Michael Farkas strives to implement innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet his clients’ tax planning needs and business objectives.

Driven by complex challenges, Michael is a tax planning and tax litigation practitioner with our tax law team. He draws on his deep knowledge of taxation to advise both SMEs and large corporations on business organization or reorganization matters, as well as commercial transactions. Michael utilizes his expertise to propose innovative approaches designed to optimize his clients’ tax outcomes.

Michael is also an experienced tax litigator who counsels clients on audits, information requests and compliance requirements from the Canada Revenue Agency. Although his preferred approach is to negotiate, he does not shy away from drawing on his litigation experience if necessary. He has previously represented clients before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal.

Michael has been a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2018 and holds a temporary restrictive permit from the Barreau du Québec as of 2022.
