Marc Beauchemin

Legal assistant
Chantal Lamarre

A seasoned litigator, Marc Beauchemin has established himself as a key player on the Montréal municipal and legal scene.

Chair of De Grandpré Chait's Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Marc plays a central role within the firm. His legal practise can be defined as two-dimensional. First, he specializes in municipal law, representing the private interests of his clients, particularly major property owners, in the context of real estate developments throughout Québec. Assisted by his specialized team, he is involved in complex public law and zoning litigation cases. As a result, he frequently negotiates agreements pertaining to these issues with public authorities.

In tandem, Marc continues to pursue his extremely specialized major litigation practise, which includes class action suits. It goes without saying that since his resounding victory before the Québec Court of Appeal in the largest class action suit in Canadian legal history (a case involving the Québec Council on Tobacco and Health and the three major Canadian cigarette manufacturers), Marc has established himself as a key player in the field.

Regardless of his field of practise, his vast experience speaks for itself, as he has pleaded before the courts at every level, including the Supreme Court and, on more than fifty occasions, the Québec Court of Appeal, where he has represented governments, major Canadian companies, key real estate developers, certain national interest groups, etc. With his impressive track record, you can be confident that Marc will defend your position skilfully before all public authorities.
