Evolving history of the LGBTQI2S+ community: Marie Laure Leclercq trains Quebec judges

Montréal, April 30, 2021Marie Laure Leclercq, Ad. E. gave a training session on April 6 and April 30 intended to provide the Court of Quebec and Quebec’s municipal courts judges an instructive perspective on the social history of the LGBTQI2S+ community. During this training, she discussed the legislative and jurisprudential evolution applicable to the LGBTQI2S+ community, including the consequences of the latest Center for Gender Advocacy v. Quebec decision.

This decision invalidated several sections of the Civil Code of Quebec that were found to discriminate against trans or non-binary people. The Quebec government has until December 31, 2021 to comply with the decision.
